Stronger React Teams

Bring senior React direction into the delivery team without separating guidance from the product work that needs to move now.

I lead technical decisions and implement representative or difficult areas while developers learn through refinements, pairing, reviews, examples, and ownership of meaningful features.

Usable output
A more autonomous React team with usable technical direction, working patterns, and confidence grounded in real delivery.
Best suited to
Agencies and startups with a mixed-seniority React team of roughly two to eight developers

S-01 / Current context

The situation

The team can deliver React features, but important frontend decisions depend on limited senior availability. Less-experienced developers receive tickets without enough context to understand module boundaries, business logic placement, testing strategy, or the wider consequences of an implementation choice.

Adding more tickets or occasional review comments does not create autonomy. The team needs technical leadership inside the delivery loop: before implementation, while difficult work is being shaped, and after patterns are tested in code.

S-02 / Delivery signals

Signals that the team needs closer technical leadership

  1. Junior and mid-level developers wait for approval on recurring implementation decisions.

  2. Similar features are built with different state, API, component, or testing patterns.

  3. Code reviews correct symptoms without transferring the reasoning behind the change.

  4. Architecture discussions happen after implementation has already created coupling.

  5. One senior developer has become the only reliable source of frontend context.

  6. Training exists, but developers struggle to apply it to the product’s real constraints.

S-03 / Decision trail

How I work with the team

  1. Establish the decision context

We make the product priorities, current architecture, delivery constraints, and team responsibilities visible. This identifies where closer leadership will create the most value.

  2. Shape work before implementation

Technical refinements clarify boundaries, data flow, test responsibilities, and trade-offs before a developer commits to an approach. The goal is better reasoning, not prescriptive ticket instructions.

  3. Lead and code alongside developers

I pair on difficult work, implement representative slices, review pull requests, and explain the reasoning behind changes. Reusable examples are created where a written rule would remain too abstract.

  4. Transfer ownership deliberately

Developers take increasing responsibility for breakdown, implementation, tests, and technical discussion. We document stable decisions and identify where the team can now operate without the same level of support.

S-04 / Usable output

What the team keeps

  1. A clear frontend decision map and architecture guidance

  2. Working examples for components, modules, API handling, and business logic

  3. Practical testing conventions with meaningful representative tests

  4. Reusable component and Storybook patterns where the product needs them

  5. Review and refinement habits that explain reasoning, not only corrections

  6. Documentation and a handover or continuation plan tied to current work

Insurance customer portal · large reengineering programme

Strengthening a React team during a large insurance portal reengineering

How hands-on technical leadership helped junior and mid-level frontend developers work more independently inside a complex, mixed-seniority delivery team.

  1. Junior and mid-level developers became more independent in breaking down requirements and selecting the correct architectural layer.

  2. Reusable modules, shared component patterns, and Storybook supported more consistent implementation and review.

  3. Frontend unit-test coverage reached approximately 90% at a bounded stage of the engagement.

Engagement fit

A strong fit

  • A software agency needs temporary senior React leadership within a client team.
  • A startup has roughly two to eight frontend developers with mixed experience.
  • The team wants guidance connected directly to current product delivery.
  • Technical leadership, representative implementation, and knowledge transfer are all valued.
  • The desired result is greater internal ownership rather than long-term dependency.
Outside the scope

Not the right fit

  • The need is primarily line management, hiring, performance evaluation, or HR responsibility.
  • The expected service is a generic bootcamp or classroom mentoring programme.
  • Developers cannot access or participate in the decisions they are expected to own.
  • The client wants an external lead to remain the permanent approval bottleneck.
  • There is no meaningful React product work through which to apply the guidance.
